Former Kano Pillars forward has become Super Eagles seventh joint-top scorer, he made this history yesterday in Nigeria’s match versus Liberia.
His 90th minute penalty kick yesterday made him match Odion Ighalo to become the seventh joint-top scorer in Nigeria football history with 16 goals. Ighalo made 35 caps and he currently has 16 goals.
Musa is also the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Musa is also the first Nigerian to score in two FIFA World Cup competitions, after scoring twice against Iceland in the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup; the second group match of Nigeria, which ended 2-0 in favour of Nigeria.
Nigeria’s top scorer still remains Rashidi Yekini with 37 goals.
Ahmed Musa has made 102 caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, having more caps than Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama.
